seen in Cadboro Bay immediately north of
Oak Bay, sightings of large serpentine marine animals
have been reported off the waters of Vancouver Island since the early 1930's. Descriptions of Caddy have been remarkably similar for generations.

Tennis

Visitors and residents enjoy outdoor tennis throughout the year in Oak Bay thanks to a cooperative climate and a number of good quality courts.

Windsor Park in the heart of Oak Bay (Windsor and Newport Avenue) offers three finished courts as well as a practice wall. The courts are free and open to the public on a first-come first-served basis. If the courts are booked for lessons or a tournament the booking is posted on the bulletin board beside the court entrance. The courts are usually booked on Friday mornings for lessons.

Carnarvon Park is host to five finished courts and a practice wall which are also free on a first-come first-served basis. Bookings for lessons or tournaments will be posted on the bulletin board at the entrance.

Henderson Recreation Centre, at 2291 Cedar Hill X Road sports six finished tennis courts with partial windscreen and tree surround. Three courts have overhead lights. Reservations a day ahead are recommended. Call 370-7200.

Tennis enthusiasts can play rain or shine at one of seven indoor courts at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre. Reservations can be made one day in advance by calling 598-2665 from 7:30AM to 8AM for a booking between 3PM and 11:30PM or call between 8AM and 8:30AM for a booking between 6:30AM and 3PM.
